By using this Website, you signify your acknowledgment and agreement to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, DO NOT use this Website (as defined herein).

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Book Of Memories websites (the "Website") and other services (collectively the "Services"). FrontRunner Professional ("Company," "we," "us," "our") reserves the right in our sole discretion to change, amend or modify (the "changes") all or part of these Terms and Conditions at any time and from time to time for any reason. Any changes to these Terms and Conditions will be noted by indicating the date these Terms and Conditions were last made. Any changes will become effective no earlier than fourteen (14) days after they are posted; provided, however, that changes addressing new functions of the Services or changes made for legal reasons will be effective immediately. Your use or continued use of the Services after the date any such changes become effective shall constitute your express acceptance of the Terms and Conditions as changed, amended or modified.

Eligibility: Users under 18 years of age are not eligible to use the Services without consent. Users between the ages of 13 and 17, can use the Services with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years of age; provided, however, that such parent or legal guardian agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, and agrees to be responsible for such use of the Services. Company reserves the right to refuse use of the Services to anyone and to reject, cancel, interrupt, remove or suspend any Campaign, Donation, or the Services at any time for any reason without liability.

Definitions: In these Terms and Conditions "Campaign Organizers" means those raising funds, and "Campaigns" as their fundraising campaigns. Additionally, "Donors" means those contributing funds, and "Donations" as the funds they contribute. Campaign Organizers, Donors and other visitors to the Services are referred to collectively as "Users". The term "Campaign Organizers" shall also be deemed to include any individual(s) designated as a beneficiary of Campaigns.

Services: The Services are offered as a platform (the "Platform") to Users of the Services. Among other features, the Services are designed to allow Campaign Organizers to post Campaigns to the Platform to accept Donations from Donors. Although there are no fees to set up Campaigns, a portion of each Donation will be charged as fees for our Services and those of our third party payment processors. Company reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Services with or without notice. You agree that Company will not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance thereof. The Company has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any data or other content maintained or uploaded by the Services. To the extent you access the Services through a mobile device, your wireless service carrier's standard charges, data rates and other fees may apply. In addition, downloading, installing, or using certain Services may be prohibited or restricted by your carrier, and not all Services may work with all carriers or devices. By using the Services, you agree that we may communicate with you regarding Company and other entities by SMS, MMS, text message or other electronic means to your mobile device and that certain information about use of the Services may be communicated to us.

Charitable Giving: Campaigns are not charities to which you can make tax-deductible charitable contributions. Any Donation you make through the Platform may be processed by an unaffiliated business partner for which a processing fee (in addition to our FrontRunner Professional Fee) is deducted. Company is merely acting as a payment facilitator for any Donations.

Company has no control over the conduct of, or any information provided by Campaign Organizers, and Company hereby disclaims all liability in this regard. We expressly disclaim any liability or responsibility for the success or outcome of any Campaign. Donors must in their sole discretion make the final determination of making Donations to any Campaigns. All Donations are made voluntarily and at the sole discretion and risk of Donors. Company does not guarantee that Donations will be used as promised. Company does not endorse, guarantee, make representations, or provide warranties for or about the quality, safety, or legality of any Campaign. If we change any of the Fees, we will provide notice of the change on the Website or otherwise, at our option, at least fourteen (14) days before the change is to take effect. Mr. Howard Gilmore

Howard didn’t know us the last few years, but we knew Howard!

I remember Howard and Ellie coming to our church for the first time. I was greeter and usher that week so I was at the front door, and this cute couple came down the sidewalk to the front door. I always hugged all the ladies, so I gave Ellie a hug and shook Howard’s hand, introduced myself and told them where the restrooms were and the sanctuary was at the top of the stairs and turn right. But the best part of the service was down in the basement after the service. So, I looked Howard up, we got our coffee and we went to the far end of the fellowship hall and I started introducing him to the guys. I started looking for Ellie. Ellie was yacking with the women already, so I guessed she was going to be okay. We talked every week after that, Howard asked about my family, where I worked, what I did for a living, and I told him I was an electrician, but I was getting ready to retire. I asked Howard the same questions and he told me about himself. But I didn’t know when I said “electrician” that Howard got really excited. Probably 3 or 4 months went by, and one Sunday Howard said, “I think you have the right attitude to be a missionary.” And immediately I thought Wow, I must be special. But after hearing that line 25 more times from Howard over the next 15 years to people in the congregation, well, I knew then I wasn’t that special, but I was an electrician filling the need of a great mission team. Thanks to Howard Gilmore.

So, you see, Howard was a Fisher of Men. A true Fisher of Men. When we were little, we sang Fishers of Men, we acted it out, we read about it. But I met Howard Gilmore, the real deal, a true Fisher of Men. Howard loved Sunday school, choir, the small group meetings that we had at our house and at Howard and Ellie’s house, men’s group, soup suppers, pancake breakfasts… everything and anything Christian.

Howard called me on a Thursday night after choir practice and said Brian and Kathy Mickelson were going to give up managing Soup Supper and this would be a great opportunity to take it over to earn money for school uniforms for our mission trip to Costa Rica. Howard, being Howard, was always thinking of some way to help someone. This time it was the children in Costa Rica. I said, “Howard, I don’t have clue about running a Soup Supper”. He said, “Call Kathy and she will help”. OK! I called Kathy and she gave me her book of everyone who made soup and what kind they made, who made pies, who made cornbread, and we did the salad and drinks. Everyone would bring soup already made and all we had to do was warm it up. Ellie would come in with all the ingredients to make broccoli cheese soup and look a little flustered and always asked if I could help make this an hour before starting to serve it. Wow. But it was every month, and it was just Ellie. I remember telling Howard after a couple of years that I felt bad calling these same people to make soup, cornbread and pies for us, month after month. Howard said, “Well, it’s like this, these are good Christians, and they want to do their part in God’s world”. He was right. I asked some of the ladies if they would like a break every so often from making soup. “Oh no, I love helping you guy’s out”. Howard was right. A strong faith will carry you a long way. They knew they were part of our mission team.

Lot’s of stories about Howard growing up. Working at Hamady Brothers, he learned how to make the best coffee, learned management skills that would carry over into his whole life, learned what a good work ethic was, and how to communicate with people.

Howard talked about his grandfather and what a fine man and Christian he was. He told Howard if you marry a good Christian girl, it will all work out just fine. And by chance Howard went to Swartz Creek Church one Sunday as part of a choir and when he walked in, he saw this chubby little red head sitting in the choir loft smiling at him, and Howard thought Hey, I might as well smile back. They even talked for a bit. He remembered what his Grandfather told him so when he went home he told his mom and dad and Grandpa, “I’m going to change churches. I think I’m going to attend Swartz Creek”, and the rest is history.

Howard went to college in Kalamazoo and Ellie to Michigan State. On weekends Howard would hitchhike to go see Ellie. During a couple of winter storms Howard wondered what in the world am I doing. Lord, have mercy. But it all worked out. Howard said they had a wonderful life together.

More than once I heard Howard talk about his wife on mission trips to new team members saying she was 6’4”, weighed 284 pounds and was the meanest linebacker in the league, and that he would always answer, “Yes, Dear” to any question. Then I met Bob Perkey, on my second or third mission trip and thought… It’s Bob Perkey he’s talking about. But he did say, “Yes, Dear” often and lovingly to Ellie.

Howard had lots of missionary stories about what they did and how they did it. From the school bus they rented and got stuck, unload and pushed thru the mud, loaded it back up, repeated that 2 more times that day. Then loaded everything into canoes and went another couple miles up the river. Ah, the good old days, aye?

Howard was a map guy, he always wanted to know how to go somewhere and get back. Howard could go anywhere in Costa Rica. Bob Suda told Howard to take the car and stop in the a town and pick up two toilet seats. We will meet you for lunch in the next town. Howard got to the hardware store and told the man he was there to pick up 2 toilet seats. Of course, Howard couldn’t speak Spanish and the hardware attendant couldn’t speak English. The attendant says, “No English” and Howard says, “No Espanol”. The man gave Howard a piece of paper, so Howard drew a toilet seat and the man says, “Oh, Bob Suda! Si Si, Senior Howard, Si!” …and got the toilet seats, and gave them to Howard. When Howard tried to pay him, the man said, “No no, Bob Suda”. When Howard got to the restaurant, he told Bob what happened, and they had a good laugh.

Howard was a great teacher of history. He told us so much about Costa Rica…about the sculptured gardens …about all the churches and the history of each church we visited… about the sleeping Indian mountain that you could clearly see his head, nose and chin, his chest and stomach, his flat legs and his feet actually stuck up in the air. The yellow and orange trees that blossomed only in January when we were there. So much history. Thanks, Senior Howard!

Did I mention Howard wasn’t “preachy”? On mission trips, we were expected to give a least a 15-20 minute devotion on the day you were given on the sheet. Howard’s devotion was, “We are all part of each other, and everyone you meet, you are then part of them”. Howard said, “Let me read that again, “We are all part of each other, and everyone you meet, you are then part of them”. Now part of your devotion is some scripture that goes along with your devotion and a song from the song book. After repeating his devotion, Howard had his finger marking his scripture. A very short scripture reading. And then Howard say’s “Let sing, Here I am Lord” (one of his favorites) And DONE!!! 4 minutes max. Pretty slick, Howard. Well Done.

Howard would talk about his kids, always positive, always proud of what they did growing up. And proud of each of them for what they were doing as adults. He was very proud to say they were all good Christian people. Howard always gave credit to Ellie for being such a good Mom. Howard loved his family very much.

Howard REALLY loved Ellie. I loved how they always smiled at each other. I remember one Thursday night the choir was practicing the Christmas Cantata. They sang and practiced at all three churches: Byron, Gains and Durand. But this night they were practicing at the Gains church. I dropped off Rita, my wife, and at the end of practice I waited for her to come out. It was raining pretty hard. Rita came out with her coat over her head and ran to the car. Next was Howard and Ellie. It was POURING! They looked at each other and started laughing and Ellie shrieked a bit and down the steps they came. They had a Jeep at the time and walked as fast as they could, got in the Jeep, laughing and wiping the rain off best they could. As they pulled away still laughing, Rita and I looked at each other, started laughing and both said, “They’re hippies!” That’s all there is to it, they are care-free hippies!

Howard never tried to save a soul, but he always changed your soul. Those of us that became missionaries because of Howard Gilmore, went places we never dreamed we would go. We did things we never thought we would do. We met people that have become life-long friends. Howard and Ellie gave us so many blessings. Who knew when they showed up on the first Sunday morning, this cute little couple was about to take charge of our church. Howard in missions and everything else he could be involved with, and sweet Ellie singing in the choir and playing the piano for the choir and anyone else who wanted to sing.

This small couple did big things… no, AMAZING things for so many people, because THEY had the right attitude to lead without fear, because they were missionaries, because they were LOVE!
As I watched this man, my friend, do big things, change lives, change souls, bring people together, I never saw a preacher make such a change in people and a church. Howard wasn’t preachy but he was amazing.

Howard didn’t know the last few years, but we all knew Mr. Howard Gilmore! Heavy on the “Mr.” please.

When Howard passed from this life, this is how I imagined it:

Howard found himself floating above his body, looking down, observing what was going on. He felt light and free, not heavy anymore. Howard looked at his hands and saw young hands and arms. He felt his face and felt a full beard, thick and brown, his hair was also thick and brown. And in Howard fashion he said, “Oh, Wow!”

As Howard looked around, he realized he could remember everything and everybody. And as he looked over his right shoulder, he saw a bright white light. And in the blink of an eye Howard was standing at the Pearly Gates. He looked to his left and St. Peter was turning a page in his book. St. Peter looks at Howard and says, “Mr. Howard Gilmore, how are you today?” As Howard is looking up at him he says, “Fine, I’m fine, and how are you, sir?” St. Peter says, “I am fine, also.” Howard turns his head and looks through the gates. He sees a bright pure white filled with love Being. He knows this is Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was looking right at Him. But then Howard noticed a multitude of people around this light. Howard saw his Grandparents, his Mom and Dad, Aunts, Uncles, and friends. He saw Bob and Joan Suda. Then Howard sees this chubby little red head smiling at him. He smiles back as his heart is filled with JOY!

Howard looks back at St. Peter with a smile. St. Peter looks at Howard and asks, “Do you have a question Mr. Gilmore?” Howard waits a second and says, “Ah Huh, you look like you have the right attitude to join our mission team. You can help us fix up these old gates.” St. Peter smiles, nods his head toward the gate and tells Howard, “Get in there!”

As Howard enters heaven the first one to greet him is Jesus Christ, open arms, nothing but love! And Jesus says, “Welcome home, Howard, welcome home my child!”

We all love you Howard and Ellie. Goodbye, for now.

I loved Howard and he made our mission trips so special!! Humour, kindness and knowing where every Pops ice cream shop was throughout Costa Rica!!
One day he forgot his hat, so he fashioned one out of a cement bag and twine!!! Wore it all day and couldn't understand why the rest of us thought it was so funny!
Howard would spend one month on the mission trip and a razor would never come near his face! On the evening before we left, our dear friend Grace, would give him the royal treatment with a shave and haircut to make him so handsome to go home to his love Ellie.
We'll miss his stories, his laughter and his love of bugs, but I'm grateful that he has seen the face of Jesus, is walking whole again and has reunited with dear Ellie.
