MESICK - Michael D. Messner, 65 years young, died peacefully at his home in Mesick the morning of Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018.
He was born in Detroit on April 1, 1953 the son of the late Howard A. & Estelle D. (Fauble) Messner. He was a graduate of Bad Axe High School and later Michigan Technological University with a degree in forestry. He married Sherry Lee VanSluyters on September 26, 1980 in Acme.
Affectionately known by "Mike," he is survived by many loved ones, family and friends, including (but not limited to): his wife of 38 years, Sherry Messner; daughter, Sarah Falter; stepdaughters Dominic Boyce, Deetra Rosebush and Danielle Kennedy (deceased); grandchildren, Aiden, Addison and Ethan; step-grandchildren, James Wilson, Gerrid Rosebush, Brian Rosebush, Kodie Boyce and Kassy Shaw; siblings, Jeff (Michele) Messner, Le'Anne (Tim) Leahy, Doreen (Jeff Kindle) Messner; Aunt Becky and Uncle Jack Dinsen & Aunt Marion Fauble as well as many cousins and extended family.
Employees and customers of Fox Grand Traverse knew him as their friendly and courteous shuttle driver prior to his retirement. During his life, he enjoyed many things such as being an Eagle Scout, forestry, writing, painting, various arts and crafts, fishing, hunting, gardening, bike riding and making his own recipes.
