Virginia C. Babcock, age 83 of Bear Lake, Michigan died January 6, 2017 at Manistee County Medical Care Facility.

She was born May 22, 1933 the daughter of William Lee and Marie (Blue) Lee.

She attended Arcadia High School and Central Michigan University, which would launch a teaching career that would last thirty seven years, a career spent entirely in the Bear Lake School system. She earned a bachelor's degree in teaching in 1960.

She married Vernon Babcock at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Michigan on November 24, 1955.

Virginia loved travel and camping with her friends and family, making several trips around the U.S.

She enjoyed watching and feeding birds. She especially, in her later years loved going out to lunch with her friends and drinking coffee with her nephew, Robert Babcock.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Terry Babcock, grandchildren Brandon and Amanda Babcock, all of Arcadia, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Vernon Babcock and a grandson, Colin Babcock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday, January 14. 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Michigan with Pastor Jim Metcalf officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until time of service.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Bear Lake Fire and Rescue and the Manistee Benzie Area Children's Chorus.
