Obituary for Geraldine Masse

Geraldine (Walker) Masse, 79, of Ludington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at home.

Geraldine was born on May 16, 1938 in Charlevoix; daughter of the late George and Susie Case. She was the oldest of twelve siblings.

On April 20, 1957, she married Bruce Masse in Charlevoix. Together they went on to have six children. She was a homemaker and most happy when she was surrounded by family. She was also an Elder of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and a longtime charter member of the First Baptist Church of Ludington, as well as the treasurer. She loved to go to the casino. She enjoyed sailing with her husband during his time at work as Captain aboard the SS Badger Lake Michigan carferry. She also enjoyed many trips to Grand Marias with her family.

Geraldine is survived by her children, sons Donald, Richard, Russell Masse of Ludington; and daughters Deborah (Franklin) Nord, Rhonda (Paul) Babcock, Suzanna (Kevin) Castonia of Ludington and Paula Masse of Tarpon Springs, Florida; 17 grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; sisters Georgianna (Larry) Comstock of Ludington, Bernadine Campbell of Kingsford, Lucille LaFreniere of Munising and Angeline (Randall) Castie of Lumberton, Texas; brothers: Benjamin Case, Louis (Staci) case, Donald (Helen) Case of Ludington and Bernard (Janice) Case of West Seneca, New York and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Melvyn, Herbert and Silas Case.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with Pastor Tom Thomas officiating. A one-hour visitation prior to the service will begin at 10 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, directly following a time of fellowship in the Oak Grove Family Room. Memorial contributions in memory of Geraldine may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Ludington. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Harbor Hospice for the compassionate care that was given.
