I learned of Tommy's death today, June 4, 2017. He died the same day as Roger Moore, known the world over as 007. Linda Jankowski and I corresponded with Tommy throughout our friendship. We picked him up in Grand Rapids for one of his yearly musical visits to the Ludington and West Michigan area. He was "instrumental" in getting a personally autographed picture of Neil Diamond for Linda's 50th Birthday. He personally gave me "The Gift Of Music" with a boxed set of his own shows as well as the music of Bette Midler; and a personally autographed picture of Cher. I was one of the only people he allowed into the studio when he was doing his show; He needed to concentrate so his presentation would be as flawless as possible. We ate dinner at Gibb's Country House Restaurant in Ludington. He declined to be interviewed by TV 7 & 4, because he wanted to relax and enjoy the meal, consisting of several of "Gibb's Goodies". On "911" I called and talked to Tommy in New York City. He lived about a mile from Trump Towers. He assured me that he was ok; but that he could see the smoke from the burning buildings. I will miss the phone calls, the letters, and his many yearly visits. Christmas just isn't the same without his friendship. Rest in peace Tommy; and in the words of Red Skelton: "God Bless".
