Patricia “Patty” S. Scatena

Patricia “Patty” S. Scatena, age 64, of Ludington passed away on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Campus in Grand Rapids.
She was born on November 21, 1951 in Brownsville, PA, daughter of the late Bernard and Julia (Mihalik) Russell. She attended Beth Center High School in Fredericktown, PA, graduating with the class of 1969. She then attended Seton Hill University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics.
Patty married James Scatena on February 6, 1971 at St. Agnus Church in Richeyville, PA. Patty worked as a teacher at numerous schools across the United States. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church.
Patty was a beautiful and happy person. She loved her friends; she loved her caregivers; but most of all she loved her family, her children Juli and Jim, and especially her husband Jim who she met her junior year in high school and married in 1971. But most of all she loved her 4 grandsons. They were the true happiness in her life.
Patty is survived by her husband, Jim Scatena of Ludington; daughter, Juli (Ryan) McGuire of Overland Park, KS; son, Jim (Valerie) Scatena, Jr., of Shorewood, MN; sister, Bernice Russell; brother, Bernie Russell; and 4 grandsons, Vincent, Jack, Dominick and Joseph.
Cremation has taken place and the mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday October 17, 2016 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Father Wayne Wheeler celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday October 16, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington with the evening vigil being held at 7:30PM. Visitation will also take place on Monday morning at the church from 10:00AM until time of mass.
