Mildred Carolyn Frederick
Millie was born in the home of Earl and Blanche Keith in Victory Township on March 13, 1937.
Blanche taught her how to pick berries and can suckers. Earl taught her how to be stubborn and not to cry.
She met Jim at Scottville High School. She was shy, he was not. They got married and brought five children into the world. Baby Jeffrey left early. She would whistle when she missed him. She had grit. Millie was a nurse and she loved babies. She didn’t love weeding the flower beds. She liked to dress up fancy. Larry did her hair every Saturday. She smiled when she shopped and she smiled a lot.
She liked traveling to far-off places and collecting spoons. She didn’t like her coffee cold. She was a master laundress. She was meticulous. She played host to many a wandering vagabond. She made the best sloppy Joes. She had perfect penmanship and could pick out the best cards. She liked church on Sunday mornings and breakfast after even more. She never left until she finished her coffee. She liked her Christmas tree straight and watching her grandchildren swim in the pool. She cared. Above all else, she loved.
Millie was preceded in death by her mother and father (Earl and Blanche), her son (Jeffrey James), and her granddaughter (Kassandra Rae).
She is survived by her husband James, sons; Gordon Earl (Michelle) of Lansing and Christopher James (Rebecca) of Scottville, daughters; Kimberly Kay Masunas (Michael) of Ludington and Melinda Rae Kalis (Daniel) of Irons, sister; Lois Ames (Scott) of Dallas, Texas, and grandchildren; Betsy, Dennis (Laura), Natasha (Bret), Aaron, and Ian.
