Obituary for Mae Marie Sharpe (Finner)

Mae Marie Finner Sharpe, age 94 of Manistee, passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2023.

Mae was born on March 30, 1929, in Manistee and raised in Filer City, the daughter of the late Laverne & Albina (Kotarak) Finner. She married Harlan William Sharpe on July 2, 1949, and they shared 38 years together before Harlan’s passing on February 28, 1987.

Mae enjoyed working at the Glen of Michigan along with her best friend, Henrietta ‘Etcha’ Wagner; she was also employed as a cashier at Carl’s Market in Maxwell Town; and later, worked as a Dietary Aide at the Manistee Heights Care Center. Her primary focus in life was family and friends, and Friday night fish fries accompanied by a cold beer. She loved to laugh, enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, and was quick with the quips that kept everyone in her company laughing. She remained, to the end, an avid Michigan State Spartan fan – Go Green!

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (Guardian Angels Church).

Mae is survived by her son Ronald Sharpe (Debra Salopek) of Manistee; daughter Susan Greenslait of Ludington; and her beloved granddaughter Abby Greenslait of Ludington.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Harlan, Mae was also preceded in death by her new born son, Thomas Harlan Sharpe.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Guardian Angels Church, Divine Mercy Parish, with Father Zeljko Guberovic celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Memorials in Mae’s name may be directed to the Guardian Angels Church Restoration Fund at Divine Mercy Parish.
