Obituary for Andrew Joseph "Andy" Barbera

Andrew “Andy” Joseph Barbera, age 94 of Arcadia, a kind caring man, always with a smile and an embrace, wanting to share a glass of vino and a story (There’s Truth in Wine). Our beloved GG received his wings on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Maple Ridge Manor in Manistee.

He was born on July 18, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Salvatore & Michelina (Pandolfo) Barbera. As a young boy, true to his Sicilian heritage he made Zinfandel from California grapes alongside his father. As a young man he served his country with the US Air Force in the Pacific Theater, stationed in Japan for three years. On January 9, 1953, he married Eunice L. Anderson at Messiah Lutheran Church in Manistee.

Andy was employed as plant manager of Great Lakes Chemical in Filer City for several years before relocating to company headquarters in West Lafayette, IN to serve as Marketing Manager. In 1991 Andy & Eunice moved to Arcadia and enjoyed their home on the water watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Andy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia. He loved to hunt, fish, & spend time at the family cabin. He also was a member of the Arcadia Lions and VFW Post 3314 and was an Arcadia Daze volunteer.

Survivors include his wife; Eunice, two sons; Mark (Karen) Barbera and Paul Barbera, granddaughter; Stephanie (Todd) Galdes, and his three energetic great grandsons; Urban, Henrik, & Grady Galdes of whom he was so proud.

A private immediate family service will be held.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer.

**IN LIEU OF FLOWERS** or travel to a celebration, the family requests that you raise a glass to Andy in your home or favorite location. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Arcadia Endowment Fund, PO Box 139, Arcadia, MI 49613.
