Obituary for Cynthia Jo Schmidt (Radtke)
Cynthia Schmidt, age 72 of Irons formerly of Saint Joseph, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday February 11, 2023.
She was born on June 12, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Eldridge and Janet (Siedschlag) Radtke. Cynthia graduated from River Forest College in Illinois with her bachelor’s degree. On October 2, 2004, Cynthia married Steve Schmidt and they shared over 18 years together.
Cynthia had briefly taught at school before she started working at People’s State Bank in St. Joseph where she eventually retired as vice president. She then was an office manager at an advertising agency before officially retiring.
She was a member of Saron Lutheran Church in St. Joseph.
Cynthia enjoyed genealogy and was an avid reader. She also loved planting a special flower garden for her dog, Molly.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Steve; her brothers Glenn (Karen) Radtke and Paul (Colleen) Radtke; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her sister Nancy and her special god daughter Kimberly.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Riddel and the staff at Cowell Family Cancer Center for all the care they had given.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
