Carmelita Maria (DeLeon) Carpenter, age 59, of Bear Lake, MI passed away at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City from kidney cancer.
She was born October 6, 1962, the daughter of the late Nicolas O. and Ernestina DeLeon of Onekama, MI. She attended Onekama Schools. Moving to Lake City and then back to Bear Lake.
In her working career she was a nurse’s aide, cook in the restaurant industry, home maker, loving mother, special daughter, sister, and awesome aunt.
She is survived by her children Allen (Andrea Maidens) Galloup of Arcadia and their children Karlee, Grayson, and Hudson, and Heather Carpenter of Onekama and her children Ethan and Kiana; her mother Ernestina DeLeon of Onekama; sisters Irma (Doug) Tibbitts of Marne, MI, Mary Ester Smith of Craig, CO, Liz (Jason) Benchich of Elk City, OK, and Susie DeLeon of Atlanta, GA; brother Mike (Amy) DeLeon of Onekama; and her close cousin Ray (Carol) Reyes of Marne, MI.
She was an awesome aunt to: Noah, Noel, Nicholas, Sierra, Matthew, Kallie Ray, Wesley, Meghan, Jarrett, James, and Selena.
At this time her family would like to thank the staff of Hospice House in Traverse City, MI for the wonderful care she received as she waited to get her angel wings.
