Obituary for John Douglas Corey
John Douglas Corey, age 67, of Manistee, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday June 28, 2022.
He was born on June 20, 1955, in Benzonia, MI, the son of the late Charles and Jessie (Baker) Corey. On June 18, 1977, John married Linda Kay VanderWerf in Reed City, MI and they were able to share 45 years together.
John was a truck driver/diesel mechanic, working in the oil fields and for an electric utility company. When he wasn’t working, John enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and playing cards. John was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children Jenni (Nate) Breen and Mike Corey; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Leonard (Karlin) Corey and Gene Corey; sister Norma Hinkle; brothers-in-law Duane VadnerWerf and Bruce VanderWerf; sisters-in-law Mary Corey and Kelly (Mark) Nadolski; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Charlie Corey and his brother-in-law David Hinkle.
At this time, there will be no services held.
