Obituary for Daniel Joseph Buerger

Daniel Joseph Buerger, age 67 of Wellston, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at the home of his sister in Williamsburg, Michigan.
He was born on April 18, 1955, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of the late Karl F. & Pearl (Granger) Buerger. He was a 1973 graduate of Manistee High School. He also earned his Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics from West Shore Community College. Dan was a Gulf War Veteran of the United States Army, serving for 15 years in Korea, Panama, & Germany. Following his retirement from the Army he was employed by defense contractor AAR Manufacturing in Cadillac and later by Fischer Tanks in Kaleva.
He was a member of Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Irons, the Saint Bernard’s Men’s Club, VFW Walsh Post #4499 in Manistee, and the American Legion. He loved motorcycles and restoring classic cars. He also enjoyed the times socializing with his Wellston friends.
Survivors include one brother; Steve Buerger, one sister; Susan (Al) Heuer, brother-in-law; Dave Hatto, nieces; Josette Guenthardt and Alanna (Kevin) Crouch, nephew; Nathan (Kaycee Newell) Heuer, and great niece and nephew; Roman & Violet Heuer.
He was also preceded in death by brothers; Gary S. Buerger and Lawrence E. Buerger and sister; Kathleen Hatto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Irons. Military Honors will follow. Members of the Saint Bernard’s Men’s Club will pray the Rosary at the church at 10:00 AM.
Memorials in Dan’s name may be directed to the Manistee Veterans Van Transportation Program.
