Obituary for Jeffrey Scott Cameron

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Heaven gained a bright star. Jeffrey Scott Cameron, age 59, passed away at home with his wife Patricia Cameron by his side.
He was born in St. Johns, MI to the late Alex Cameron Jr. and the late Shirley (Willard) Peterson. He married Pat on May 18, 1991, in Manistee, MI. He’d always use that date as part of his system to remember her birthday which was three days later. He passed on the day of their 31st wedding anniversary.
He was an over the road truck driver most of his life. He worked for many years for Mason Country Fruit Packers before purchasing his own truck and becoming an owner/operator. Before deciding to get off the road, he worked for Daily Express, Carlise, PA. with his main terminal being Lannon, WI. While home, he began working for Al Bufka Construction as a wheel loader driver at Tondu in Manistee. It was a job he enjoyed and had been looking forward to returning to after he recovered from his major surgery. But his body was tired, and it wasn’t meant to be.
Jeff and Pat had three children: Tanya, Rebekah, and Jarrod. Later welcoming two grandsons Henry and Jack (who shares a birthday with his Papa). Family meant everything to him, and he would try to spend time with them when he was home off the road. He liked to go fishing, hunting, and spending time around the campfire with friends. He was always ready to offer support or advice if someone was having car trouble or working on a project. The arrival of his grandsons was the highlight of his life and a large reason to get off the road. He got to spend more time with Henry and was just getting to know Jack when he left us. It also meant a lot to him that his brother Randy, sister Debbie, and family recently moved back to Manistee. It was the first time the siblings were in the same city after many years.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Tanya (Albert) Schram of Custer, Rebekah (Corky) Solis of Manistee; son Jarrod (Desi) Cameron of Lusby, MD; grandsons Henry Schram and Jack Solis; brother Randy (Carrie) Cameron; sister Deb Dowdy; brother-in-law Doug (Lisa) Gutowski; sister-in-law Paula (Todd) Schumacher; along with nieces and nephews: Alex, Cassie, RJ, Hunter, Faith and Trevor Cameron, Jackson and Madison Gutowski; and in-laws Gene and Darlene Gutowski.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister Barb Norman.
He always said when he left us, he wanted it to be a party. So, we will be celebrating his life on Saturday May 28, 2022, at Oak Grove Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon-1pm, with celebration at 1pm. A luncheon will follow at Oak Grove as well. Please bring your stories, of which we know there were many and join us for a shot to toast his life that we all got to share.
Please feel free to share a memory or photo with Jeffrey’s family at www.oakgrovefh.com. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Manistee.
