Obituary for Janet Kay Bush (Detering)
Janet Kay Bush, age 85, of Fountain passed away on Monday May 9, 2022, at Willowbrook Care Home in Scottville, MI.
Janet was born on January 28, 1937, in Lansing, MI the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma (Gutzki) Detering. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. Janet married Derwood A. Bush on June 2, 1961, in Okemos, MI and they shared 60 years together.
She was a data management specialist for a small company in Lansing called Datatel.
In her younger years, Janet was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha which was a national philanthropic service organization. She was also part of the Order of the Eastern Star during retirement.
During retirement, Janet traveled with her husband to south Texas each winter. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting. Janet was an excellent cook.
Janet is survived by her husband Derwood A. “Pete” Bush of Fountain, MI; children Hope (Dave) Veale of Lansing, MI and Jeffrey H. “Jeff” Bush of Wyoming, MI; grandchildren Conner (Deja) Bush and Megan Bush; two great-grandchildren; siblings Holly (Michael) Webster of Dewitt, MI and Hugh Detering of Lansing; and many other family and friends.
Besides for her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother Charles F. Detering.
