Obituary for Daniel G. Kuhr

Daniel G. Kuhr, age 58, of Manistee, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday January 30, 2022, surrounded by his friends, at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.
Dan was born on December 28, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Gloria (Proffit) Kuhr of Manistee.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman. He was the happiest when he was snowmobiling with friends, hunting, or chasing fish to the depths of lakes and rivers in Michigan and beyond. He was always sharing his bounty. Many a dinner and fish fries were toasted in thankfulness to Dan’s generosity.
He was a good friend to those who knew him; always ready to lend a hand on a project or to give advice. He loved a good laugh too. It didn’t matter to him if he was on the giving end or the receiving end of the laugh, he just loved to laugh.
For many years he worked as a mason in the masonry construction field (Local #2). Dan was a perfectionist and it showed in his work. His work took him to many other states where he helped to build several structures. When he retired due to health issues, he moved back to Manistee where he continued to do masonry work and to care for his aging parents.
Dan never married, but he loved kids. He never passed on a chance to take someone out hunting or fishing with him. He was a wealth of information about the sports he loved, and he enjoyed sharing it and teaching it to others.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and a void will be left in the lives that he touched.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. During this time, no services are planned, but a celebration of Dan’s life will take place in the summer to be announced at a later date.
