Obituary for Marlene Katherine Coe
Marlene Katherine Coe, age 81, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
She was born on October 4, 1940, in Manistee, the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Frances L. (Pachesny) Skiera. Marlene was a 1958 graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Manistee. She married Joseph B. Coe on December 30, 1961, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Joe preceded her in death on February 29, 2020.
Marlene retired from West Shore Hospital in Manistee, where she was employed as a Ward Clerk and a Medical Records Clerk. After her retirement from West Shore, she was employed for several years at Munson Home Health and as a desk clerk at Super 8 Motel.
Marlene enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crocheting and creating afghans for her family members and earlier in life, bowling with her co-workers from West Shore. What brought Marlene the most happiness was her family. She was a room mother volunteer for her children’s classes while they were in school. She especially loved spending time with her pride and joy, her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, band concerts and enjoying their company.
Marlene is survived by her children: Jennifer (Gary) Faubert of Grand Haven, Michael (Trudy) Coe of Manistee, Brian (Susan Zawacki) Coe of Manistee and Laura (Jeff) Petrosky of Bear Lake, grandchildren: Jared and Sarah Faubert, Tyler (Lilly) Coe, Dalton Zawacki, Anna and Erin Coe, Spencer, Jake and Ryan Petrosky. She is also survived by her in-laws: Jeannine (Dave) LaPointe, Regis Thomas, Tony (Sandy) Coe, Lorna Coe, Jan Matthews and Mark (Deb) Coe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her brother, Kenneth Skiera and brothers-in-law, Sam Coe, and Alan Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 19, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee. Memorials in Marlene’s name may be directed to Manistee County Council on Aging.
