Obituary for Harry William Kolk

Harry William Kolk, master electrician/contractor and owner of H & K Electric, age 78 of Manistee died on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at his home.
He was born on November 17, 1943, in Manistee the son of the late Harry O. Kolk and Mary (Johnson) Kolk Pearce. Harry was a 1961 graduate of Onekama High School. That fall he joined the US Navy and served on the USS John King DDG3 as a cook. His ship was part of the fleet that patrolled the waters during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Harry loved to cook, sharing his talents with family and friends. “No one should be alone for the holidays” was his motto.
Harry was a member of the Manistee Lions Club for 39 years plus two years before officially joining. During those years he served every position with the exception of secretary. The motto of Lionism is “WE SERVE” and that he did.
Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years; Karen, son; Richard of East Grand Rapids, daughter; Karla (Cameron) Marshall of East Lake, grandchildren; Ben, Campbell, Kelvyn, & Leighton, siblings; Gary (Jan) Kolk, Sue (Paul) Smogoleski, & Dennis Kolk, brothers-in-law; Carl Sundbeck and John (Patricia) Sundbeck, plus nieces, nephews, and cousins by the dozens.
Memorial Services and Military Honors for Harry W. Kolk will be held at the Lions Pavilion at First Street Beach on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 7:00 PM.
Memorials in Harry’s name may be directed to the Manistee Lions Club or Tight Lines for Troops.
