Obituary for Morris Herman Armbruster

Morris Herman Armbruster, 91, left this earth to enter his eternal home in heaven with his Lord, on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Morris was born at home on the family farm in Sebewaing, Michigan on May 5, 1929 to his parents, Melinda (Wagner) and Herman Arthur Armbruster. He spent his first 18 years working hard on the farm with his two brothers Roy and Edmund. He graduated from New Salem Lutheran School (8th grade) and Sebewaing High School (1947). Morris met his future wife, Mary Lou Eppler, on a blind date in Saginaw where she was a nursing student at Saginaw General. They were married on September 4th, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey, Mary Lou's hometown. Morris and Mary Lou moved to Flint, where Morris completed his bachelor’s degree in business at General Motors Institute. Morris worked for Buick and although he switched his career path, he always enjoyed the various models and history of automobiles. In 1960, he entered the brokerage business with a regional brokerage firm, H.B. Shaine. He continued in financial planning with several national firms until his retirement from Smith Barney. He was well known and respected in the financial community. He loved the technical aspects of the market and found it rewarding being able to help people plan and prepare for their future.

Morris was also very active in the church. For 16 years he served on financial and mission planning boards for the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, planning for future church locations. He enjoyed sharing the fond memories he had from his years spent on those boards. He and Mary Lou were also active at Mt. Olive and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Morris served on the church council and finance boards.
Upon retirement, Morris and Mary Lou moved to Manistee, MI where they built a house on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan that was a welcoming home for their family and friends. Together, they enjoyed travelling to Europe and throughout the United States.

Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, his parents, in-laws, Ray and Louise Eppler, brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Clara Armbruster, brother Edmund Armbruster and brother-in-law, Clint Stroebel.
