Dale F. Bladzik, Age 78 of Manistee passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday morning, March 13, 2020.
He was born on July 19, 1941 in Manistee, Michigan son of the late Joseph & Sallie (Bartoszek) Bladzik. He attended Saint Joseph School and was a graduate of Manistee High School class of 1959. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces following a motor vehicle accident. He married Linda Lou Markham on June 13, 1964 at Saint Joseph Church in Manistee. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2013.
Dale had been employed as a truck driver by Century Boat Company in Manistee. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (St. Joseph Church). An avid deer hunter, he also loved mushroom hunting and enjoyed playing cards. Most of all he loved his sports, whether it be playing, listening on the radio, watching on TV, or in person. He especially was a diehard Michigan sports fan. He loved the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions. He may have had a few choice words for them but always remained loyal. His most precious time was spent with his kids and grandkids. If you happened to drop in during the Detroit Lions season you would find him having a beer and enjoying the game with granddaughter Chelsea.
Survivors include his four children; Sallie (Peter) Miller, Melissa (John) Gutowski, Jennifer Bladzik, & Thomas (Debbie) Bladzik, grandchildren; Nicole (Jordan) Ness, Chelsea Miller, Joshua Gutowski, Jared Miller, Nolan Miller, Jordyn Lear, Payton Bladzik, Matthew Gutowski, Blake Bladzik, Cameron Lear, Madeline Bladzik, Catryna Lear, Alexys Lear, and Pierce Bladzik, great grandchildren; Mason Miller & Millie Ness, siblings; Jean Schrader, Joe (Dee Dee) Bladzik, & Harriet (Kenny) Sielski, In-Laws: James & Martha Markham, Kay Markham, Calvin Dummer, & Sharon Sandberg, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend; Geraldine Leffew.
He was also preceded in death by brothers; Dave (Marion) Bladzik, Dennis (Lillian) Bladzik, & Roger Bladzik, sister; Ruth (Edward) Niemierowicz, in-laws; Tom & Esther Markham, brothers-in-law; Roger “Pete” Schrader, William Markham & Steve Sandberg, sister-in-law; Laura Dummer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Father Zeljko Guberovic officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service.

God bless Dale and ALL the Bladzik Families! What a great neighbor as a kid growing up across from him in Oak Hill! My friend Pat Bajtka and I were reminiscing and so many stories! WOW!! Definitely the Neighborhood hero! The Schrader boy, Wayne, Gary, and Roger, worshipped him and were his nephews! Dale was a tremendous athlete as were ALL of the Bladzik Family! Starting with Grandpa Joe, Down to Dave and Dennis, and Joe! Then down to Dar, and his son along with other nephews! His grandkids he worshipped and after being a Chippewa for so many years he became a Mason County Spartan fan! ALWAYS willing to chat, and those knowing me, KNOW Dale and I spent many hours jabbering about ALL sports, Especially those perennial losers the Lions and the Tigers! Remember the trip to Green Bay with a bunch of us in the early seventies (74?) to see Lion-Packer Game. Darn thing ended in a 14-14 tie. But the booze was good for all! Also when I got fed up in 1979 with the insurance business (sort of) I rode with him to Fresno California! He actually taught me how to drive and back that monstrosity up! We had to protect those boats also! WE were in Salt Lake City Utah, 1979, the year Michigan State won the National Championship there. (Party) oh heck ya!! Then got to Reno and Donners Pass was shut down! Oh brother, couple days gambling! He said only take so much money and leave the rest LOCKED in truck! Darn he showed me how to win, playing scared without a big Bag Of money! We or should I say He won enough that we ate for two days pretty well and then had a pop" or two. Memories go on, watching him after his accident PITCH baseball and good! The last time I talked to Dale we both talked of our mortality and he seemed fine with it! The only thing I wish to God I would have done, like Patrick DID, is give Dale a hug and tell him I loved him, because I did! Sorry for your loss kids. Your Dad was a "hero" to us! Again God Bless!
