Obituary for Ted Steve Sielski

Ted Steve Sielski, age 104, of Manistee, Michigan, passed away November 14, 2019 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
Ted was born in Filer City on May 29, 1915 to the late Anthony and Rose (Borucki) Sielski. He attended Manistee High School. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 32nd Red Arrow Division from April 29, 1941 to August 25, 1945. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, including the Battle of Buna, Papuan Campaign and the Battle of Leyte. He received three Bronze Battle Stars for those campaigns and battles. Upon returning home from the war, he worked at General Motors in Flint and then Century Boat in Manistee. He retired from Century Boat. On April 3, 1945 he married Ellen Roskoskey at Guardian Angels Church Manistee. She preceded him in death on February 12, 1982.
He was a lifetime fan of the Notre Dame Football Team and the Michigan State Spartans. He attended at least one Notre Dame game per year until he was 90 years of age. He was a member of the Manistee VFW and helped build the current VFW building on 28th St. He was a member of St. Josephs Church and later joined Guardian Angels Church where he raised his family in the Catholic faith.
Ted enjoyed family gatherings and the meals that accompanied them! He also loved to fish. He is survived by his son Ted R. Sielski (Jane), Bob Sielski and daughter-in-law Sandy…wife of Paul, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, Ted was preceded in death by his sons John David and Paul Charles as well as all his siblings.
A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until time of service. Luncheon will follow immediately after. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Manistee County Medical Care facility. Ted’s family is forever grateful for the wonderful care and love he received from his caregivers and staff at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
