I have known Doug for many years. I believe the first time we met was in the Jay-Cees. We enjoyed many activities together, including, golf, basketball, kayaking, camping, and of course music. I remember dribbling the basketball down underneath the basket to shoot and getting blocked by doug, he would say " dodnt bring your small self down in my territory " . We had a lot of fun playing those pick up basketball games with many of our friends. I also will never forget playing guitar in his living room, gospel and new christian music, discussing our mission trips on the front porch, and watching eagles fly out in front of his home. Doug will always be my friend and will some day join him in our heavenly home our good Lord provides us. See you soon my friend. Timothy Wright

I met Doug when I was at Safe Harbor in the winter of 2016, he said "I can see and hear that you love God, your're not our typical homeless person", sit down and tell me your story. So I did, I talked to him and Julie for quite awhile, after that he always greeted me like we were old friends and he made me feel more comfortable the couple weeks we were at his church. I will miss this kind and compassionate man! He loved Jesus and so do I so I know we will meet again in heaven!

Doug became my friend after his second episode of cancer. His deep desire to be useful and serve others in some way was prominent in his mind. He inspired me with his deep love for others. After he entered hospice care he said to me, “I just want to bless at least one person in some way every day.” Lastly, during a guitar playing and singing session with me only a couple weeks ago, I discovered what a beautiful voice he had. I will surely miss him.
