To the Goodspeed Family: Many condolences at the loss of this man, Elder Alto Goodspeed. He was, indeed, a man I admired, along with my wife, Melanie. Though our trips to Manistee grew further apart as the years progressed, I always requested to visit Elder Goodspeed while in town, if possible. I enjoyed sitting face to face with him and discussing life's journey, and absorbing his loving concern for my soul, and the souls of my family. He was in my life as a teenager, and loved my grandfather dearly, along with my aunts and their families. Thank you all for your love and patience with us, the Moores, and may God's comfort cover you all in this time. Elder Goodspeed will be greatly missed. God Bless You All!

Where do I begin to tell about a man that was a dad, mentor, pastor, and so much more to me? When I was 19, rebellion set in and I wanted to do things my way. He was a gentle, loving pastor who encouraged me to keep my eyes on the Lord, teaching one verse that stuck with me, but years later..when I was old, I recalled it.."Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose his mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3. Years later, I came back to the Lord, back to my church, and back to sit under the son of this wonderful teacher. The words that changed my life and kept me encouraged were simply "I like this Lisa" He had seen the change in me and he knew I was determined...as he said all the time "I want to go to Heaven"...Well, Dad, Elder, Prophet Goodspeed...YOU DID IT! You are there now...See you again some day. thank you for your love, prayers, and encouragement.
