Dave A. “Lefty” Rutowski, 70, of Manistee, Mich., died unexpectedly Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He was born on June 14, 1948 in Filer City, Mich., son of the late Joseph Rutowski and Germaine (Sciba) Rutowski.
He attended Onekama High School and was a graduate of the class of 1966.
Dave married Paula Krajkiewcz on August 27, 1971 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Manistee. He was employed at the Manistee County Road Commission for over 30 years. He served his community as a township trustee for Stronach Township for over two decades. He had a passion for sports, a knack for storytelling, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Dave is survived by his wife, Paula Rutowski, of Manistee, Mich.; two sons Dan and Dave Rutowski of Manistee, Mich.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Matthew Shafer, of San Jose, Calif., and Dursa and Kevin Marshall, of Manistee, Mich.; four grandchildren, Sam, Mia, and Joseph Shafer, of San Jose, Calif., and Peyton Marshall, of Manistee, Mich; one sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Gary Miller, of Onekama, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Sherry Rutowski, of Onekama, Mich. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Rutowski.
Cremation has taken place and the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee. Memorial Services will follow at 11:30 AM with Father Ruben Munoz officiating. He will be interred in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
