James Robert Fortier, age 84 of Manistee Michigan, joined his beloved wife Marcia in death on December 12th,2018. James passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by those who loved him.
James was born in Manistee on November 8th, 1934 to Percy and Clara (Bluhm) Fortier. James and Marcia Raskey were wed on March 26th, 1966 and had two children James and Laura. James dedicated 42 years to the Packaging Corporation of America of Manistee MI and served 2 years as a cook in the United States Army.
James is survived by his two children Laura (David LaFrance) Fortier-Kramer and James (Jerilynn) Fortier, three grandchildren Ashley (Matthew) Johnson, Anja (Jess) Holland, and Casey Fortier, and two great grandchildren Peyton and Crosby Johnson. James is also survived by one brother Edward “Ray” Fortier of Manistee.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Marcia, both parents Percy and Clara, brothers William, Percy Jr., Knobby, and Marvin, and one sister Marjorie.
The family will be honoring the life of James in a private ceremony in the spring. The family would especially like to thank Hospice of Munson, Cadillac, MI for all their caring, professional and comforting services in his time of need. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Manistee.
