Johnston, Stuart Donald
With sadness, the family announces the passing of Stuart Johnston on Sunday,
November 25, 2018. Stuart was the son of the late William and Grace Johnston
(Hounslow). Loved father of Kevin Johnston and Katherine Johnston Newsome
(Craig). Loving grandpa of Aidan and Bree Newsome. Dear friend of Mary
Johnston. Dear brother of Bill and the late Fred, late Robert and late John
Johnston. Dear nephew of the late Lillian Roberts. Dear cousin of Joan, John,
Martin and the late Bill Roberts of Michigan. Also missed by his many nieces
and nephews.
Stu was born in Timmins, Ontario March 27, 1936. He moved to Brantford with
his family at a young age. He worked at Brantford Cordage for 19 years. He
moved to Michigan in 1972 to join his Aunt Lil Roberts, operating the Salty Dog
Saloon in Manistee, Michigan. Later, Stu was the proud owner of Stu’s Pub for
over 27 years until his retirement. Stu always enjoyed spending time with his
friends and family, his many visits to Canada, his daily drives around town and
shopping for the best deals! Stu will be missed by his many dear friends in the
Manistee community where he lived for the past 46 years. Cremation has taken
place. Appropriately, a celebration of life will be held at Stu’s Pub on Saturday,
January 5, 2019, 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. During this season of giving, donations
can be made to Toys for Tots, the local food bank or Meals on Wheels.
