Obituary for Adolphus Jack Aldridge

Adolphus Jack Aldridge, Age 78 of Traverse City, Michigan died June 22, 2018 at Munson Medical Center.

He was born on August 2, 1939 in Summit City, Michigan the son of the late Adolphus E. & Nellie V. (Smith) Aldridge. He was a graduate of Traverse City Central in l957. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving during the Vietnam Era. He married Dovie M Bright on September 5, 1961 at Faith Lutheran Church in Aransas Pass, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2008. He married Mary Lou (Saunders) Bare at Saint Michael’s Lutheran Church in Traverse City on April 16, 2011.

He was a member of the United States Coast Guard for 20 years, retiring on August 31, 1977. He was also employed in security at the University of Texas for 21 years, retiring on September 30, 1998. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Lutheran Church in Traverse City.

Survivors include Mary Lou Aldridge of Traverse City, one son; Charlie Bright of Houston, TX, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, 3 step-children; Michelle Williams, Michael (Angie) Bare, & Amy (Tim) Heiges all of Traverse City, MI, 6 step-grandchildren, & 1 step-great grandchild, one brother; Basil (Wynola) Aldridge of Muskegon, and one sister; Donna Martin of Kingsley. Nieces and nephews also survive.

He was also preceded in death by a son; Donny Wooten, a daughter; Dorothy Achord, and siblings; Ruth Roop, Varden Akers, Thomas Aldridge, Julia Roop, and Elbridge Aldridge.

Memorial Services for Aldolphus J. Aldridge will be held at Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Traverse at 11:00 AM M. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 with Pastor James Nihiser officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Final interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley.
