Obituary for Daniel Walden "Dan" Golden

Daniel Walden "Dan"  Golden
Daniel “Dan” W. Golden, age 64 of Eastlake, passed away on Thursday June 21, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 21, 1954 in Grand Rapids, the son of the late Robert and La Verne (Goetz) Golden. Dan attended Ypsilanti High School, graduating with the class of 1972. He also attended Henry Ford College.
Dan married Janet Smith on August 11, 1984 in Ypsilanti at the United Methodist Church. He worked for the Ford Motor Company as a Stationary Engineer for 30 years, retiring in January of 2003. Dan also was the Captain of Fire Plug Charters here in Manistee from 2003 until 2017. He recently worked for MAPS as a bus driver.
Dan was a retired volunteer fire chief, antiques dealer, builder, enjoyed 4x4 diesel trucks and was a Charter Boat Captain and avid fisherman.
Dan is survived by his wife, Janet Golden of Eastlake; daughters, Jennifer Golden of Belleville, Kristina (Todd) Merritt of Milan and Samantha (Sean) Sobaski of Free Soil; grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Kaely, Calista, Ethan, Vance, Brianna, Aubree, CJ, Casen, Brycen and Paxton; great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Grace Star and Wesley, Jr.; and all the students that rode on his bus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Engerson; infant brother, Robert; Father-in-law, Alonzo Smith; and ½ brother Phil Fager.
Funeral services for Dan will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday June 23, 2018 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor James Friesner officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00PM until time of service. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dan may be directed to, Beautiful Bullfrog, Penny Park, Eastlake Fire Department or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Please feel free to share a memory or photo with the family at www.oakgrovefh.com.
The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Manistee.
