Rose Elizabeth Kunkel, age 90, of Freesoil passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. She was born October 5, 1927 in Lansing to Oscar and Phoebe (Blackledge) Pifer. Rose graduated from High School in Lansing in 1945. She married William Kunkel Sr. on July 13, 1947 in Battle Creek. Together they raised three children.
Rose worked for Scottville Senior Center for over 20 years. She was an avid gardener and a Detroit Tigers Baseball fan. Rose also enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her children, William (MaryBeth) Kunkel Jr., Sue A. (Robert) Bershing, and Kenneth C. Kunkel, her grandchildren, Lexi Bleau, Dustin, Blake Kunkel, Kenneth Kunkel Jr., William Kunkel III, Jamie Krusniak, and Kaitlyn Bershing, her five great grandchildren, her sister, Blanche Mapes, her brother, Max Pifer, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Jane and Iva, and brother, Walter.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions in Rose’s name may be directed to the Scottville Senior Center.
