Obituary for Dale Lee Johnson

Dale Lee Johnson, age 70, of Walhalla, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Dale was born on March 27, 1948, the son of Peter and Betty (Smith) Johnson. Growing up, Dale spent time in Frankfort and Ludington. He left school early to start work, first on the Badger, then for Motyka Metal Products. Dale was a metal worker for GLC Fabricators until his retirement in 2013 and a member of the City of Ludington Police Reserves. He enjoyed classic car shows and was a big outdoorsman; hunting for deer and elk, fishing, mushrooming. Dale was a devoted and loving husband and a real family man who spent a lot of time with his kids and grandchildren. He taught them how to cook, built forts with them, coached the softball team, and did all he could to spoil them.

Dale is survived by his wife, Delores “Dee” Johnson; first wife, Sandy Johnson; children, Andrea Johnson, Mila (Jaramie) Jones, Emily Taylor, and Patrick Johnson; grandchildren, Louis, Ashley, Jassonna, Andreanna, Gaige, Jarred, Anya, Samantha, Camillah, and Isabella; siblings, Loretta (Vern) Kraus and Gary Johnson; sisters-in-law, Nancy and Sandy Johnson; and friend, John Husted.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; children, Gerald and Karyn Johnson; and siblings, Danny, Esther, and Bobby.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington, with Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr. presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
