Obituary for Dennis James Hansen

Dennis James Hansen, age 78 of Ludington passed away on March 19, 2018 at Butterworth Hospital. Dennis was born on September 10, 1939, the son of James & Alice (Semple) Hansen. He attended Ludington High School and graduated with the class of 1957. Dennis proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 – 1960. He married Judith Carol Johnson on May 12, 1962 and they celebrated 53 wonderful years together. He was employed by Dow Chemical and retired in 1995. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ludington. Dennis loved spending his time hunting and fishing, especially in the mountains of Wyoming. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and most especially spending time with his beloved granddaughter Lauren Mae. The two of them were inseparable as she was the light of his life. Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Amy & Jason Williams; granddaughter Lauren Mae, exchange granddaughter Natakanya (Phare); brothers, Jim (Kathy) Hansen, Doug (Sue) Hansen; sisters Sherry Johnson, Sandy (Doug) Rogers; brother-in-law Roger (Pat) Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved Judy (the Swede), his parents, sister Dorothy Rose, sister-in-law & brother-in-law Dolores & Elwood VanderVeer. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place in June. A Celebration of Life for both Dennis & Judy will take place for all their family and friends on June 9th, more information will be available at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Foundation for Mason County Scottville Sculpture Project or Emanuel Lutheran Church of Ludington.
