Obituary for Judy Hendershott

Judy Hendershott
Judy Jacobson Hendershott, 76, of Baldwin, formerly of Jackson, Michigan, passed away March 2, 2018, surrounded in love by her devoted husband of 36 years, Cecil E. Hendershott, children, Michael K. (Melissa) Sharp, Connie J. Mosher (Dave Gourley), Yvette N. (Pasqualino) Succurro, Todd C. (Amy) Roy, step-children, Beth (Larry) Tuckerman, Linda (Doug) Scholl, Joseph (Marney) Hendershott, Michael (Jaime) Hendershott; grandchildren, Carly A. Witkop, Kelly S. Mosher, Michael D. Sharp, Giovanna Succurro, Julianna Succurro, Mario Succurro, Giovanni Succurro, Isabella Roy, Sofia Roy, Steven Sharp, Logan Anglin, Lia Anglin, Tess, Kyle, Amber, Adam, Talia, Sydney, Carson, Dalton, Brynn, Landon, and great-grandchildren, Dayton, Elias and Madelyn. Judy is also survived by her sister Nancy (Jerry) Reis. Preceded in death by her parents, Richard A. Jacobson and Jane V. Sendek, as well as her brother, Richard M. (Julie) Jacobson.

Judy’s life took a turn for the better when she married her husband, Cecil. Together they had a love and devotion to each other which far surpassed any traditional love affair. They weathered many storms and demonstrated to all an unwavering love and respect not often witnessed in today’s world. Cecil’s presence in Judy’s children’s lives also enhanced their lives greatly as he became a warm and welcome father to her children as well.

Judy was fiercely passionate when it came to her family. Her years of ongoing physical struggles did not deter her steadfast love for her husband, children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. Judy was a natural listener and many friends and family sought her wisdom, advice and consolation. She was the best friend of so many, as she had the innate ability to understand and empathize, freely offering love, support and hope. Judy’s other great passion was animal rescue. She would go to any extreme to insure all animals were treated with kindness and respect. She was very active with the Cascades Humane Society over 40 years ago, and continued her endeavors feeding and nurturing the wildlife in her own backyard and beyond after moving to Baldwin. She was fearless and unapologetic when it came to animal welfare, and always believed in speaking for those who could not speak for themselves. Her high intellect and wicked, mostly inappropriate sense of humor were legendary. She could bring levity to even the worst situations. There are countless stories of her playful antics with family and friends. She was so much fun to be around. Judy’s ability to combine humor with a positive attitude is what made her such a powerful matriarch for our family, and she will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to be part of her life. Words alone could never convey the essence of Judy’s unique and loving spirit. Rest in everlasting peace, beautiful one.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite animal charity in Judy’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington.
