Larry S Reed, age 80 of Ludington and formerly of Davenport, IA, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at home surrounded by family.
He was born on July 8, 1937 in Lake Odessa, MI, son of the late Stanley Reed and Sheila (Dyke) Wolfert.
Larry married Vada Hudson on September 3, 1960 in Ionia, MI. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2011.
He graduated from Ionia High School, class of 1955. He also attended MSU, class of 1959. He started his career as a salesman for Proctor and Gamble. He was later employed by Davenport Chamber of Commerce in Iowa for over 20 yrs.
Larry was passionate about professional growth, he was always involved in continuing education, always improving himself.
Larry loved to travel. He had been to; Germany, Australia & New Zealand, Great Britain, Bahamas, and India with his wife Vada as part of an International Rotary Club culture exchange. Although he traveled extensively abroad and domestically, West Michigan was his favorite place. Larry was a true dog lover, and he was very fond of his fellow companions, Bella, Chance, Tasha and Lobo.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Meg (Jim) Kieszkowski of Manistee and Melissa (Patrick Patterson) Reed of Scottville; sons, Timothy (Anita Casey) Reed Bismarck, ND and Mark Reed; grandchildren, Amy Motzny, Andy Motzny, David (Allison) Nicholson, Joseph Reed and Sofia Reed; step-grandchildren, Cody and Cameron Patterson; special friend, Marge Hundley of Brethren; and his constant companion, Savannah.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vada; sisters, Sharon Jenca and Dianne Cahill; and brother, Eric Reed.
Funeral services for Larry will be held at 11:00AM on Friday March 2, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Ludington with Pastor Dennis Bromley officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday March 1, 2018 from 4:00 till 7:00PM at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington and again on Friday morning at the church from 10:00AM until time of service. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
