Lowell Moore
Lowell William Moore, age 89, of Ludington passed away Monday, January 22, 2018. He was born July 30, 1928 in Muskegon to Earnest and Mary (Woodard) Moore. Lowell graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1946 and attended Muskegon Community College. Following in his father’s footsteps, Lowell started work at the Muskegon Post Office at the age of 15. Lowell took a promotion in 1973 which brought his family to Ludington. He retired from the post office after 40 years in 1983.
Lowell met a Beaver Island girl named Bernadette Celeste Malloy and married her on October 19, 1957. Together they raised four children.
Lowell was a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, and the Lincoln Hills Country Club. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon and St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington.
Lowell enjoyed golfing where he recorded three holes in one. He also enjoyed sailing, gardening, and teasing his nieces and nephews.
Lowell is survived by his four children, Timothy (JoAnn) of Sterling Heights, David (Christina) of Madison Heights, Daniel (Amy) of Winter Park, FL, and Kimberly (Dana) Moore of Sacramento, CA; six grandchildren, Blake, Scott, Connor, Alison, Emilee, and Jessica; his sister, Madelyn Roberts and many nieces and nephews, each one, his favorite.
Besides his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his wife Bernadette, his brother Samuel, and his sisters, Bonita Wooten, Ann Therese Witkowski, and Gloria Mish.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington. A scripture service will be held at 7:30 pm that evening. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington, Fr. Wayne Wheeler presiding. Lowell will be laid to rest next to his wife at Lakeview Cemetery immediately following the service.
