Rogene Ann Kieszkowski

Rogene Ann Kieszkowski, age 87 of Manistee, entered into enteral rest, to be united with the Lord and her husband Ludwig on Sunday January 14, 2018 in Englewood, FL.

She was born on June 3, 1930, in Manistee, daughter of the late Charles and Selma (Janowiak) Schmeling. Rogene attended Guardian Angels Catholic School in Manistee.

Rogene married Ludwig J. Kieszkowski on December 2, 1950 in Manistee at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. She worked at the Shoe Factory in Manistee, and then helped her husband Ludwig as owners/operators of Jerry’s Flowers on Fifth Street, Manistee Florist on River Street, Oak Grove Cemetery and Kieszkowski Farm all in Manistee.

She was a devoted lifelong member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking dinners for her family (you never left hungry), playing bingo, playing cards at St. Joseph Parish Center and at the Manistee County Senior Center and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rogene is survived by her son, Jim (Meg) Kieszkowski of Manistee; daughter, Laurie (Shane Jennings) Longcore of Constantine; grandchildren, Ryan Kieszkowski of Manistee, Eric (Lindsey Toelle) Kieszkowski of Traverse City, Brooke Longcore of Whitmore Lake and Courtney (Brad) McCreery of Constantine; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way, Annabelle, Cade, Phin, Reid, Mallory and Sawyer Kieszkowski, Kinsley Smith and Lennon McCreery; brother, Larry (Sandy) Schmeling of Manistee; sisters-in-law, Carol Schmeling, Lois Schmeling and Jem Schmeling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ludwig; sister, Charlene Schmeling, Jeannette Tyczkowski and Audrey Cabot; brothers, William, Robert “Tiny” and John Schmeling.

Mass from the Order of Christian funerals will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Friday January 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 till 8:00PM on Thursday evening at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee and again on Friday morning at the church from 10:00AM until time of funeral mass. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.

Memorial contributions in memory of Rogene may be directed to Manistee County Senior Center.
