Obituary for Florence Marie Beerman

Florence Marie Beerman passed away peacefully on November 9 after battling cancer. She was born on October 23, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Wallace and Nellie (Sinclair) Phillips. Florenceā€™s family moved to Big Bay, Michigan in 1932. After graduating from high school in 1949, she married Vernon Beerman in Big Bay. They moved to Detroit in 1953 where Florence worked as a telephone switchboard operator. After her husband died in 1976, Florence moved to Ludington, Michigan and worked as a secretary at West Shores Community College. After she retired, Florence cared for her elderly mother. She became a resident at Longfellow Towers in 2002 where she enjoyed playing pool, shuffleboard, and Rummikub with her friends. Her parents, four brothers Frank (Pat), William (Joyce), Raymond and Donald (Carol) Phillips and two sisters Elizabeth (Clare) Nicolls and Barbara (Bill) Brown preceded her. She is survived by her youngest sister, Mary Anne (Donald) Wallace, a close family friend Joann Demos of Detroit, and companion Charles Riffle of Custer. A Celebration of Faith will be held on November 11 at the Community Church at 109 N. Harrison, Ludington at 11 AM. She will be buried at Lakeview Cemetery near her parents. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan or the Ludington Community Church.
