Obituary for Jimmie Leroy Lange

Jimmie Leroy Lange passed away into the arms of our lord and savior October 25th at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 24th, 1935 in Ludington. The son of Herman and Irene (Willis) Lange. Jimmie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He started working for Ferris Construction at the age of 14. He fell in love with operating heavy equipment and at the age of 17 went to work for the City of Ludington where he retired after 38 years as the superintendent of the Motor pool. He was also a member of the Ludington Fire Dept. for 24 years retiring as Assistant chief. The Lange family was committed to serving our community, his dad was his inspiration and he followed closely in his footsteps. The Fire Dept. was big part of his family legacy his Uncle Art was Fire Chief, His dad retired after 35 years, his brother Gary recently retired as Captain after 40 years and his nephew Broc Cameron is keeping the tradition going. Jimmie also served on the search and rescue dive team for many years. He loved fishing, horseshoes, golf, hunting, working on cars and driving around the countryside. He met the love of his life Myrna Feltenbarger in Ludington where they enjoyed 35 years together raising their 2 children. They loved to travel and spend time with family. Myrna proceeded him to heaven in 1984. Jim later married Barb Kent, they were married for 21 years before they separated, but remained close friends. Jimmies life was giving to others. He was always there if you needed help, no matter what it was or who it was. He will forever be loved and missed by his grandchildren Jamie (Shawn) Wehner, Steve (Lisa) Lange, Becky (Matt) Metheny, Pansy (Thomas) Riley and Melissa Cress. Great Grandchildren Donnie Case, Jonathan Zoscsak, Emilie Case, Logan Case, Ty Wehner, Amari Rivera, Roger Lange, Dominic Fisk, Dylan Metheney, Alexis Knapp, Amber Ritz, David Ritz, Kavita Riley and Andre Cress. One great great granddaughter Mya Lange. His Brother Gary (Sandy) Lange and Sister Brenda (John) Organ along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jimmie was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Myrna, son Roger, daughter Sue (Irene), Brothers Ken, Don, Allen and Floyd and his brother in law Art Barton who was as close to him as his brothers. A Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that any contributions be made in his memory to the Ludington Fire Dept.
