Obituary for Marion L. "Mari" Girard (Overal)

Marion L. Girard, “Mari”, Age 63, of Ludington, formerly of Chicago Heights, passed away, suddenly, Wednesday, October 4, 2017. She was born March 8, 1954 in Chicago Heights to James and Evelyn (Morey) Overal.
Mari graduated from Homewood Flossmoor High School in 1972. She received her RN degree from Prairie State College in Chicago Heights. Mari worked as an RN for over 30 years at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Mari and her partner, Joe, semi-retired to Ludington and she worked for Tendercare and Ludington Hospital.
She and Joe were members of the Ludington Boat Club, the Hart Long Riffle Club, and St. Simon’s Catholic Church. Mari also served as an alternate for Hamlin Township.
In her spare time, Mari loved to garden, spend time at the beach, and hosting friends and family. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and interior decorating.
Mari will be greatly missed by her longtime partner, Joseph Muzzo; children: James (Melissa Malloy) Girard of Chicago, IL, Amanda (Paul) LaBelle of Hopedale, IL, Joe (Connie) Muzzo of Plain Field, IL, Alex Muzzo of Chicago, IL, Jake Muzzo of Ludington; Eight grandchildren: Kevin, Matthew, Ethan, Andrew, Dylan, Avery, Mason, and Lily; brothers, William (Gracia) Overal and Donald (Pamela) Overal.
Mari was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions in Mari’s name may be directed to St. Simon Catholic Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington.
