Joyce Anne Auten, Age 77 of Bear Lake died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her home.
She was born on August 27, 1940 in North Branch, Michigan the daughter of the late John George Scharf &Thelma Inez (Mull) Scharf-Mitcham. She was a 1958 graduate of Goodrich High School. In 1958 she married Harold Jack Auten at St. Anne Catholic Church in Ortonville, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2005.
Joyce enjoyed quilting, gardening, and fishing on the “Big Lake” with her husband. She loved her dogs.
Survivors include three children; Daniel (Korena) Auten of Davison, Laurie (Jim) Smith of Copemish, and Kristine Auten of Bear Lake, 4 grandchildren; Rozlynn, Adrianne, Jillian, & Jeff, 5 great grandchildren; Chase, Bailey, Victoria, Scarlett, and Damien, and two brothers; John (Meredith) Scharf of Rochester Hills, MI and James (Connie) Scharf of Punta Gorda, FL, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son William “Bill” Auten, a granddaughter; Jamee Wellman, and siblings; Kathy, Evelyn, June, Ralph, and Vivian.
Services and interment in Fairview Cemetery in Bear Lake will be Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:30 AM with Pastor Mark O'Brien officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Bear Lake United Methodist Church.
