Obituary for Shirley Ann Evans Nelson

Shirley Ann Evans Nelson, 96, of Ludington, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

Shirley was born on October 5, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Roy Evan Evans and Phyllis Mildred Crockett. She graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago. Shirley was a member of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church in Miami, and Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Chicago.

Shirley could often be found riding to the beach in her red convertible. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to great music and reading.

Shirley is survived by her children, William (Mary Louise) Nelson, Bruce (Beth) Nelson, and Pam (Dick) Lorenz; brother, Roy Evan Evans; sister-in-law, Joanne Knapp Evans; grandchildren, William (Yamila) Nelson, Barbara Nelson, Terry (Renee) Peterson, Erick Peterson, Katrina Bourdo, Lindsay and Greg Nelson; and great grandchildren, Michael and Brianna Nelson; Christina Fiebeck and David Nelson; Darren, Jayce, Trent, and Brooklyn Bourdo; and Abby and Max Peterson.

Preceding Shirley in death are her parents, Roy Evan Evans and Phyllis Mildred Crockett; stepmother, Lee Evans; sisters Betty Evans Joza and Judith Redmond; brother, James Evans; and grandson, Brian Nelson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Pentwater Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakview Medical Care Activities Dept.
