How do you sum up the years of one’s life?
A daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife.
Close to Detroit is where her life would start.
Something she would always hold close to her heart.
Caring, brave and of course QVC
lottery, lemon bars, always iced tea.
Photographs, Wal-Mart bags, any kind of tin,
strong and courageous with beautiful skin.
On the back of a Harley, Carl asked her to ride,
She was the woman of his dreams, and his soon to be bride.
A move to Scottville is where they would go,
with three little boys and one girl in tow.
Dr Phil, cigarettes, church on TV,
particular, take out bags, and sometimes bossy.
“Whatever,” salmon, crystal red neck,
Always the one to keep you in check.
She loved her family, make no mistake,
many sacrifices for them she would make.
As time went on, her family would grow,
she loved all of them more than they‘d know.
Creative, ginger ale, elegant, wise,
Champagne in a beer bottle, sweet onion pies.
Caregiver, stubborn, proper, polite,
never afraid to tell you what’s right.
For 56 years they shared the same bed,
then Carl went on to heaven ahead.
In a new home a garden decorated the floor.
To keep his love with her, a little while more.
Fairy garden, giving, popcorn, friend,
Surely this list could go on with no end.
To sum up her life in the simplest of ways,
is that she was loved to the end of her days.
