Chester Alfred Gauthier, Jr. age 89 of Manistee died Wednesday, April 18,2018 at U of M Hospital in
Ann Arbor.

He was born on February 28,1929 in Manistee the son of the late Chester A. & Jennie L. (Sandstedt)
Gauthier. He attended the Newland School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during
the Korean Conflict. On September 22,1956 he married Virginia E. Johnson at Saint Joseph Catholic
Church in Onekama.

Chester had been employed by Cohodas Orchards for many years as well as being a caretaker at Portage
Point for many cottage owners.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish in Manistee. A people person, he loved telling jokes, and going
to breakfast and auctions. He loved his animals, especially his dogs.

Survivors include his wife; Virginia, four children; James (Donna) Gauthier, Judy Rogers, Kathy (Scott)
Buckner, and Roger Gauthier, daughter-in-law; Karry (Mike) Schram, son-in-law; Jim Rogers, special
friend; Tim Soller, nine grandchildren; Curtis {Justine) Gauthier, Tyler (Jessica) Gauthier, Dawn &Eric
Rogers, Josh (Amy) Gauthier, Jessa (Gabe Kee)Gauthier, Kailani & Jarrett Buckner, Cheyenne (Cody
Sievert) Gauthier as well as Timmy Soller & Nate Edens, great grand kids, sister; Charlotte (Harlan) Kott,
brother; John (Brenda) Gauthier, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two sons; Clarence as an infant and Randy, a daughter; Karen, three
brothers; Charles as an infant, Elwyn, & Bernard (Daisy) Gauthier, and a sister Florence (Ken) Pruski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April24,2018 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic
Church in Manistee with Father Pablo Martinez celebrant. Military Honors by the Manistee United
Veterans Council Honor Guard & the US Army will follow. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic
Cemetery in Onekama.

Relative and friends will pray the Scripture Service Monday evening at 7:30 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral
Home & Cremation Center in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday
from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.

Expressions of Sympathy in Chester's name may be directed to the family to assist with expenses.
