Condolences

Condolence From: Cal & Jill Werner
Condolence: Meg, Melissa, Timothy & Mark:
Jill and I were out of town in February when you lost your dad. Had I been in town, I would have made every effort to make the journey to Ludington, as your dad was a special person and a special friend. Jill and I have fond memories of the year I was Chamber President, and in particular, our trip to Washington DC. Jill also had the experience of enjoying a balloon ride with Vada a year or two later. Both of your folks were special people and will be missed. Please accept my sympathy on your loss.

Condolence From: Tim Wilkinson
Condolence: My condolences to the family. I worked with Larry for those 20 years in Davenport. He and Vada were my first friends outside of work when I moved here in 1983. I always enjoyed his wry sense of humor and that sly smile. Hew was always fun to be around at a lot of boring community gatherings.
He had a great vision for the economic prosperity of the region despite the lagging farm economy and high unemployment in this days. It was tough keeping members. He was one of the first to endorse a regional business group that would speak as one for the region. That vision wouldn't become reality until about 5 years ago.
He also was concerned about the lack of industrial lots that we could market to businesses. He was one of four orginators of the the non-profit Greater Davenport Redevelopment corp that secured 250 acres of land in northern Davenport. Thanks to his vision, today it is a success story 23 years in the making. In the Industrial Center today there is dover $700 million in capitl investment and over 600 jobs have been created. That's his legacy and I wanted the kids and grandkids to know that the Quad City region is thriving today because of his vision. Every once in a while we need to look back at the people who made a difference. We thank him for everything he did for the community he served so well.
Tim Wilkinson, Alcoa-retired and part time executive director of the Greater Davenport Redevelopment Corp.
