Obituary for Carl William Griffin Sr.

Carl William Griffin Sr., age 80, of Ludington passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born February 23, 1937 in Boyne City to Ray and Pansey Mae (Phillips) Griffin.
Carl did many things in his life, he worked for C&O Railroad on their salvage team, Mereks Scrap Yard as a torchman, Wolverine World Wide making shoes, and finally his favorite job was with the Mason County Fair as the grounds keeper. For a little extra cash and because he enjoyed it so much, he also drove the Amish for many years. He also drove an ice cream truck for many years in the Perry Michigan area.
Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed talking on his C.B. radio where he had the handle name of Rattle Snake.
Carl is survived by his children, Carl William (Amber) Griffin Jr. of Ludington, Carol Hawk of Hillsdale, and John (Stephanie) Griffin of Scottville, his son-in-law, Francisco Gonzalez, his 14 grandchildren, Chad, Carl III, Neta, Logun, Terry, Candice, Mary, Barbara, Joseph, Skyler, JackJacob, Tiffani, Dylan, and Jordan, 24 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, his sisters, Pansy May Knott and Maryileen Lang.
Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lee Griffin in 1998, his daughter, Mary Ann Gonzalez in 2017, and numerous brothers and sisters.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington with visitation one hour prior.
Memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be directed to the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington.
