Obituary for Donald Edward Miller

Donald Edward Miller, beloved husband, father, & grandfather, age 90 of Onekama died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Michigan Masonic Pathways in Alma.
He was born on April 5, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI the son of the late Herman & Hertha (Harthun) Miller. He was a graduate of Onekama High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married MaryEllen Murray on August 30, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama.
An electrician, he was employed by Packaging Corporation of America, as well as following his life long passion of fruit farming until 2016.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia, a Charter Member of the Onekama Lions Club and was very active with the Leader Dog Program, past president and member of the Onekama School Board, and past member of the Onekama Township Zoning Board.
Survivors include his wife; MaryEllen Miller of Alma, his 4 children; Gail (Chris) Ankrom of Onekama & Las Cruces, NM, Don (Carol) Miller of Sanford, MI, Lynn Dulas of Mount Dora, FL, & Michele (Bill) Mann of Eustis, FL, 10 grandchildren; Juliane Ruff, John & Heather Cooper, Andrea Hoagland, Dan Miller, Tara Hall, Steven & Jonathan Dulas, Gregory Lockett, and Lauren Correll, 13 great grandchildren, & Miller family in-laws; Nancy Miller of Onekama, Charlottie Miller of Bear Lake, & Terry (Rose) Pierson of Manistee.
He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law; Lynn Brown, and by one sister; Edna Mae Pierson, and 5 brothers; Roland, Herman (Bing), Jim, Harlan (Josh) and Dale Miller.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Pastor James Metcalf officiating. Military Honors by the United States Navy and the Manistee County United Veterans Council will follow. Burial will be in the Spring at the Bertelson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.
