Condolences

Condolence From: Maria (Ware) Appleby
Condolence: It's been quite a few years since I've laid eyes on Bette, but I sure do remember her well. I can remember being in her kitchen, I came over with my brother. I was maybe in 5th or 6th grade. I sat down and Bette had cookies she had baked. There was coffee on (smelled good), but she made me a hot chocolate and made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. Her kitchen was the kind of place where everyone was welcome. Whenever I saw her, school related stuff or whatever, she always smiled and spoke so warmly and kindly. A person just doesn't forget things like that. I know I haven't. I also know for a fact, that Bette was a terrific grandmother to my nieces and nephews, and I am so glad they were nurtured by her love, and guided from her wisdom. My husband and I will remember all of Bette's family and friends in our prayers, in the difficult days ahead.
