Obituary for Barbara Louise Thompson (Schneider)

Barbara Louise Thompson (Schneider)
Barbara Louise Thompson, Age 90 of Manistee died Friday December 8, 2017 at Munson Heathcare Manistee Hospital.
She was born on September 12, 1927 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of the late John F. & Bertha (Hentzelman) Schneider. She married Earl Thompson on November 11, 1958 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1991.
A very spiritual woman, she was blessed to have been able to go on two pilgrimages to the Holy Land, as well as having ventured to her ancestral region in Germany. Barb was an active of the Victorian Quilters Guild in Manistee and in 2006 won the Viewer’s Choice Award at the West Michigan Quilters Guild Quilts on the Grand Show, as well as Two Special Awards at the show in 2008. She was known for her canned pickled asparagus & salasa and her “notorious” cooking for her family. She dedicated her life to her husband & family.
She is survived by two sons; Michael (Kendra) Thompson of Manistee and Steven Thompson of Wixom, and 3 grandchildren; Kyle and fiancee Sara Franklin, Blake, & Emily, and her brother; Jack Schneider of Grand Rapids. Nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.
Memorial Services will be held in the Spring.
Memorials in Barbara’s name may be directed to the Victorian Quilters Guild.
