Obituary for Lauri Louise Smith

Lauri Louise  Smith
Lauri Louise Smith, age 54, of Ludington, passed away peacefully November 26, 2017 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids after battling a six month illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Lauri was born on February 12, 1963 in Ludington, the daughter of Duane M. and Suzanne M. Smith. She was a 1981 graduate of Ludington High School and was previously employed at Hamlin Grocery Deli, Northside Market & Deli, and most recently Stearns Motor Inn. She was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1354 and enjoyed spending time with her Eagles’ family. Lauri also enjoyed cooking, reading, camping, and spending time with her family, especially her four granddaughters whom she loved very much.

Lauri will be forever missed by her mother and father, sons Zachary D. (Sheena) Skoog and Jacob M. Skoog (Logan Meeker), siblings Vicki (Phil) Johnson, Bobby (Lisa) Smith, Timothy Smith, Mary Beth (Randy) Haight, and Christopher (Traci) Smith; granddaughters Estrella Halyn-Renee Reyes, Lillian Jo Reyes, Aja Reigh Skoog and Raina Louise Skoog; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dearest friend Dorene Root.

Lauri was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Eugene and Rosetta Smith; paternal grandparents George and Beatrice Smith; nephew Timothy Chase Smith; aunt Nedra Shanks; uncles Roger Schott and Frederick Malliett; and cousins David Malliett and Gabe Smith.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Tammy Bacon will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 5:30 pm at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington, with visitation starting at 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Lauri’s name may be directed to the family to help with medical and funeral expenses, and a GoFundMe account has also been created in Lauri’s name.
