Conrad Griegel, 76, of Manistee, Mich., passed away on Nov. 13, 2017, peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1940, in Chicago Ill., the son of Conrad Griegel and Mary Jankauskis Griegel.
Conrad graduated from Central Michigan University with degrees in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering.
He was plant engineer for 27 plants across the United States. He retired and moved to Manistee and became owner/operator of C&R TV and Appliance with four stores in Northern Michigan.
He retired again in 1999 and spent his free time golng, hunting and shing.
On Aug. 16, 1993, he married Betty Reckow who survives him.
He was a member of BPO Elks No. 250 and Manistee Golf & Country Club and various service clubs over the years.
His favorite times were spent at his condo in Manzanillo, Mexico, and later in Arcadia, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Griegel; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Kamaloski, of Manistee; son and daughter-in-law, John and Michele lrion, of Smyrna, Tenn.; grandchildren, Elliott, Arianna and lsabell, of Manistee Mich., Bret, Katie and Brian of Smyrna, Tenn.; sister, Theresa Heyd, of Texas, lnlawsz Carolyn and Richard VanAelst, Sandra and John Kuenzli, Charles and Nancy Reckow, Roger and Sally Reckow, John Reckow, Jan and Tim Chandler, Bruce and Brenda Reckow and numerous nieces and nephews. Sons, Corey and Chris Griegel.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Kevin McClain. Visitation will be at Good Shepherd from 10 a.m. until time of service. A celebration of Conrad’s life will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the Manistee Elks.
In lieu of owers, contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Manistee Salvation Army or Manistee BPO Elks No. 250.
