Obituary for Richard David "Rick" Jans

Richard “Rick” David Jans

Richard “Rick” David Jans, age 49 of Manistee passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 18, 2017.
He was born on January 5, 1968 in Manistee, son of David and Linda (Adamski) Jans. Rick attended Manistee High School and graduated with the class of 1986.
On October 17, 1987 Rick married Amy St. John at the Church of Wellston. He worked at Morton Salt as a welder and mechanic for 23 years.
Rick was the biggest University of Michigan fan/season ticket holder. He loved his children, his family and special dog Max. But most of all he enjoyed his special granddaughter Emmalynn.
Rick is survived by his wife, Amy Jans; 2 daughters, Becky (Jason) Brown and Alyssa (Jesse Miller) Jans; son, Brendan Jans; granddaughter, Emmalynn; parents, David and Linda Jans; sister, Debbie (Mark) Kalasz; brothers, Mark (Stacey) Jans and Mike (Stephanie) Jans; grandfather, Lorien (Rose) Adamski all of Manistee; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lenore Adamski and paternal grandparents, Carl and Susan Jans.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Richard’s life will be held from 4:00PM till 7:00PM on Monday October 23, 2017 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Rick may be directed to the University of Michigan Department of Comprehensive Depression Center, Rachel Upjohn Building, 4250 Plymouth Road, SPC 5763, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2700.
